Columbian Class of 1942

   Twenty-three members and guests celebrated their 66th anniversary with a luncheon Sept. 27 in the Carriage Room of the Pioneer Mill. Grace was given by Ruth Brill.

Bartie Jones presented a program for those deceased members of the class. Letters and call from members unable to attend were shared. Remarks were made about many school years' . memories and events.

Brill and Martha Ann Forrest were in charge of table arrangements, blue and yellow flowers decorated the tables and were given as prizes.

Attending from out of town were Al and Marvalene Cook of Cincinnati, Katie Lou (Hasemyer) Sanders of Delta, Lee and Doris (Buton) Green of Kansas, Ohio and Roberta (Drinkwater) Cook of Dayton.

 Columbian Class of 1948

The 1948 class of Columbian High School had its 60th reunion Sept. 27 at the

Tiffin AMVET's patio shelter. Forty-six members and guests attended, with 27 being classmates.

 

Wanda (Shuff) Tully attended the registration table and members signed cards for those who were ill.

 

Decorations were in a blue and gold theme with yellow mums on the tables

given as prizes. Donna (Turman) Randall was in charge of decorations.

 Richard Kieffer, Jeanne (Zartman) & Bob Becker and Jane (Brundage)

Wickham. Arthur Ward planned and led a service to remember the 38 classmates who are deceased.

Tiffin Columbian Class of 1953

Attending were forty-two class members, spouses and friends enjoyed a cookout at Camp Hertzer the first weekend of August, as the Tiffin Columbian class of 1953 kicked off their 55th reunion celebration.  Pat (Sheely) Reinbolt and Vice President Warren Reinbolt, Bill and Jean Hertzer, Jan Carper and Secretary Dave Zartman comprised the committee for this initial event.
 
On Saturday sixty-eight gathered at the Amvets for the annual dinner and class meeting.  Warren Reinbolt offered the invocation. The meeting was conducted by President Pat Reinbolt.  She thanked the class members who have been working for two years in preparation.  A necrology service was given by President Pat Reinbolt and Secretary Dave Zartman honoring the memory of the twenty-six departed class members.  There are ninty-eight remaining class members.
 
After the minutes of the 50th class reunion were read, President Pat Reinbolt announced the new slate of officers for the next get together. They are President Pat and Warren Reinbolt, 1st Vice Joe Steininger, Secreatry Dave Zartman and Treasurer John Unger. Discussion was held but no action was taken on when and what type of activities would be featured at the next reunion.
 
Door prizes were given out to the attendees. They were wooden models and Tiffin Columbian Alumni Association one year memberships.  Winners were Jim Repp,   Carol Baum,   Anna Fleck,   Bob Nepper,   Donald Comesky,   Janet Carper,   Shirley Culver  and Barbara Collier.  The remainder of the evening was spent in chit chat and looking at memorabilia.  Twenty members went to T. J. Willies on Sunday morning to enjoy the breakfast buffet.

SUBJECT: Columbian High Class of 1957 Fifty-Year Reunion

          The Magic Number was 57 when 57 classmates of the Columbian Class of 1957 gathered for a weekend of events planned for their 50-year class reunion.  The goal of the committee was to get 50 classmates to attend the weekend of events that was held in Tiffin on August 10, 11, and 12.  The committee was delighted when 57 classmates registered to attend the Saturday buffet dinner held at Camden Falls. Ninety-one people attended the event held Saturday evening at Camden Falls.
            Thirty-six members and seventeen guests of the class met Friday evening, August 10, at the home of classmate Robert Meyer and his wife Janet to renew old acquaintances and enjoy snacks.   On Saturday morning, nine golfers met to play golf at Sycamore Hills Golf Course, while several couples met to tour the Tiffin Middle School.  Twenty-four classmates and eleven guests enjoyed lunch and conversation at Shellshuckers at 1 p.m. on Saturday.
            Fifty-seven classmates and thirty-four guests enjoyed a buffet dinner at Camden Falls Restaurant on Saturday evening.  A brief memorial service was given by Sarj Bloom of Jacksonville, FL, for twenty-one deceased class members.  Bernard Marx of Shelby, Ohio, gave the invocation.
            Dean Shappell and David Speas, the co-chairpersons, welcomed the class and conducted a brief business meeting to set the date and elect a steering committee for the 55-year reunion to be held the second Saturday in 2012:  August 11, 2012.  Co-Chairpersons will be David Speas of Springfield, Ohio, and John Stoner, of Tiffin, OH.  Others who will be assisting will be Janet and Howard Beisner; Robert Bauer; Peggy Hunker Thallman and Connie Collier Bell; Bill Anspach; Dick Steven; and Sandie Greene Spohler.  Good will Ambassador will be Dean Shappell.  Web Page designer will be Sarj Bloom of Jacksonville, FL.
            Special favors—Gold Framed 8 X 10 pictures of the original Columbian High School Building with the Senior Picture of each individual superimposed on the building were given to those present at the 50th Reunion.  These were made and presented by David Speas.  Richard Roberts brought “Class of 1957” notepads from Klamath Falls, OR.  Each person present also received a Tiffin Glass Museum cobalt blue kiss with Tiffin inscribed on the bottom and a real Buckeye with 50th inscribed on it and, of course, a small bag of Ballreichs Potato chips..
            A counted cross stitch map of Tiffin was raffled off.  The winner was Elizabeth Mathias of Stevensville, MD.  Tunes of the 50's were played throughout the evening.
            Door prizes and favors were donated by classmates and came from all over the country.  Special prizes were awarded to Herb Crum (the first classmate to pay), David Aller (highest check number), Jean Mahoney Bowers (drove the farthest –1,800 miles), Dick Roberts (youngest grandchild), and Marilyn Hammond Fogle {most (10) great grandchildren}. Special awards were given to Barbara Killen Dixson and Mary Ann Nepper Zimmer who were attending their first reunion.  Special awards were also awarded to the seven classmates who have attended each of the nine class reunions: Bill Anspach, Howard Beisner, Janet Shuman Beisner, Sandie Greene Spohler, Patty Lynn Schreiner, Dean Shappell, and Dick Steven.
            Howard W. Beisner presented prizes to those who won awards at the golf outing attended by nine classmates and guests on Saturday morning at Sycamore Hills Golf Course:  Ed Mathias, Mary Eschbach, and Dean Shappell.
            A group picture was taken by Jim Wertz.  Small group pictures were taken of classmates who attended different elementary schools.   Fifty classmates and guests met at T J Willies for Sunday morning brunch before departing home to their various destinations.  Classmates welcomed one additional classmate:  Ellen Drake Lang who joined them for the Sunday Brunch.
            David Speas, Springfield, OH, and Dean Shappell of Leesburg FL were chairman of the steering committee.  John Stoner was the Tiffin Arrangements chairman.  They were assisted by Howard and Janet (Shuman) Beisner, Bill and Becky Anspach,  Sandie Greene Spohler, Carol Arbogast Engle, Bob and Janet Meyer, Herb and Paula Crum, Vivian Baugher Blankenship, and Peggy Hunker Thallman.  Various other classmates assisted in many ways.
            Barbara Killen Dixson and MaryAnn Nepper Zender assisted Carol Arbogast Engle in cutting and serving the special 50th Class Reunion Cakes decorated for the occasion.  Guests wore special 57 Chevy nametags prepared by Carol Arbogast Engle, Linda Wiener Reiter, and John Stoner.
A special 50th Anniversary Edition Memory Book was presented to each classmate with addresses of all members of the class so members can keep in touch.

The Columbian Class of 1958 celebrated its 50th class reunion with a round of activities that began on Friday evening with parties in the homes of Lake Mohawk residents, Dick & Barb Kuhn and Judy (Blust) Henderson.

 On Saturday evening, classmates gathered for a social hour at Lake Mohawk Country Club, amid vases of pink roses and silver decorations on blue & gold table cloths. On the tables, were etched glass vases with a single floating rose (the class flower) designed by Bob Yager of Crystal Traditions with the school tower and the class motto, "Tonight we launch,where will we anchor?". Each classmate received a vase as a 50* reunion parting gift..

 A memorabilia table, assembed by Sue Grotty and Delsi (Myers) Martin, contained scrapbooks, letter sweater outfits, photos and tributes to Elvis and the music of the 50's. Rita (Doll) Butler made name tags for the class using their graduation photo to help identify everyone. Herb Love and wife Carol published and assembled an address book for each classmate.

 Mary Lou (Walker) Harrison welcomed the group with a poem entitled "The Class Reunion" and Robert Sheely gave the invocation followed by a pork and chicken buffet. Two especially decorated cakes, designed for the 50th were served as dessert. Nancy Ferguson provided the 50's music for the evening.

 The" business" meeting and program followed with remarks by class president, Duane Painter and vice-president, Patrick Huber. Reunion co-chair, Evelyn (Hottenstein) Houck conducted a memorial service for 24 deceased members.

 "It's About Time" awards went to first timers: Milton Smith and Sharon (Bish) Cooney. The "Early Bird" award went to Rita (Doll) Butler and the "Last Call" award went to Ruth Ann (Jacobs) Renninger.

 Dale Fadley read a poem entitled " The land that made me, me".

 Anna (Barth) Haaser, a classmate who teaches and dances clogging brought her dancing group, Heartland Express Cloggers, to present a dance program.

The class reunion committee consisted of Houck, Harrison, Huber, Yager, Love, Butler, Grotty,and Martin.

 Harrison was presented with a special hand-made blue and gold quilt with all the class names embroidered on tornadoes, made by Joyce (Fowler) Fadley , as a thank you for planning the reunions every five years.

 A class photo and grade school photos were taken at the end of the evening. Next plans will be for a 70th birthday party in 2010.

 On Sunday morning, about 40 met at TJ Willies for brunch and farewells.

Columbian Class of 1949

The Columbian High School class of 1949 had its 60th reunion June 26, 2009.  The class met at Golden Crown June 26th.  Saturday, the class met at the AMVETS.  Robert Schaefer acted as master of ceremonies.  Don Bridinger gave the invocation.  Joseph Smith read the list of deceased classmates.  Sue Wyndham Heeson gave the treasurer's report and Donna DeTray Fate read the minutes from the last reunion.

Class of 1959 50th Columbian Reunion

Tiffin Columbian High School, Class of 1959 celebrated their 50th reunion August 21-23, 2009.  Activity highlights included golf, a dance at Hedges Boyer Park barn; tours of Clinton, Noble and our College Hill and Miami  Schools; and a dinner Saturday night.
