TCAA Scholarship Winner We are so impressed with the winner of this year's scholarship, Anthony Brown, that we wanted to let him tell you about himself directly. Anthony is the highest example of the Columbian scholar-athlete. His dedication to serving others is outstanding. He is also a very talented musician. I am a senior at Tiffin Columbian High School. I will be attending Ohio Northern University in the fall and will play football. I am undecided on a major. I was a mentor for elementary and middle school students when I was in grades 9 and 10. I also volunteered at the Tiffin Developmental Center where I participated in a Walk/Run Race with mentally retarded adults. I was a junior counselor at the Reach for the Stars Arts and Physical Education Camp in Tiffin in grade 9. I am in my second year of high school choir and have performed many solos. Last year, I was in the musical, "Bugsy Malone" and this year in the musical, "Dear Edwina". In symphonic band and jazz band, I have played the alto and tenor saxophone during my ninth and eleventh grade years. I have been a scholar - athlete in each year of high school. I played 4 years of high school football and lettered my junior and senior years, where I was a wide receiver, defensive back, and kick and punt returner. In my senior year, I was 2nd team NOL and 2nd team All-District. I was Co-Captain my senior year. In my senior year, I received the Golden Helmet Award for Offensive Player of the Year and the Sportsmanship Award. I was chosen to play in the East-West All-Star football game in our district my senior year. I played 4 years of high school basketball as a guard and lettered my junior and senior years. I was a co-captain of the basketball team my senior year. I received the Sportsmanship Award my junior and senior years. I was MVP my senior year. I was Honorable Mention All-NOL and Honorable Mention All-District my senior year. I was chosen to play basketball in the East-West All-Star game in our district my senior year. I have lettered all 4 years in high school track and field. I was captain my senior year. All four years I have been on the 4 x 800 and 4 x 400 relay teams and have run the 400 and the 800 individually. I have also participated in the long jump and the high jump each year. I have placed in all of these events in the NOL track meets. In grades 9 and 10,1 went to the regionals in the 4 x 800 relay and last year I placed 6th in the districts in the 800.1 was field event player of the year, my junior year. I was the homecoming king my senior year. I received the Archie Griffin Sportsmanship Award in grades 8, 11, and 12.1 was awarded the Marine Corps Distinguished Athletic Award in grade 12.1 was given the Dad Kernan Junior Home Athletic and Citizenship Awards in grade 12.
